December 2024

In 2004, I was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a fatal, progressive, and irreversible lung disease. I lived with this disease for years before my health plummeted and working became a thing of my past since I needed oxygen to perform everyday activities.

My body was slowly shutting down and breathing was a struggle. My doctors told me that if I wanted any chance at life, I would need to go through the transplant testing process. On March 9, 2016, after months of waiting, I received the gift of life: a double lung transplant, my second chance, because of a stranger who selflessly signed up to be an organ, eye and tissue donor.

This gift has given me the chance to live my life to the fullest and enjoy things again that I never thought would have been possible. My goal is to inspire others to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to guide recipients in their transplant journeys. Organ, eye, and tissue donation saves lives. I am living proof. You can help save lives by talking it over with your loved ones and signing up today at lifepassiton.org/register.
