After my grandfather died, he became a cornea donor. My family cherished the letter we received about the outcome of his gifts. In college my friend died suddenly, and she was an organ, tissue, and eye donor. At her funeral, her mom told me they donated, and I just hugged her and said thank you. Another friend’s mom passed while waiting for her second kidney transplant. Suffering from the same hereditary condition, my friend ultimately needed a kidney transplant and has been living with the transplant for over 15 years. Donation is my calling, my passion, and my life’s work.
