Julianna Coates, Liver Transplant Recipient

Liver disease took me by surprise in 2020 when I went jaundice after a surgery. Further testing revealed that I had an underlying autoimmune disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC).

Over the next two and a half years I continued to get more sick until I received my life saving phone call on March 24, 2023. I woke up feeling stronger each day than the one before- I did not realize how sick I was. At six months, I wrote my donors family expressing my gratitude for the ultimate gift that their loved one gave me… life.

We connected just before one year. We had an immediate connection and. I went to my hero’s one year celebration of life. I am so grateful to Graham each day for giving me my life back.

Julianna Coates lives in Lebanon, Ohio.
